Metro To Hold Community Meeting To Discuss Improvements to Wilmington/Imperial/Rosa Parks Station Area

Metro will hold a community workshop meeting in Compton on January 9 to discuss potential improvements and beautification plans surrounding the Wilmington/Imperial/Rosa Parks Blue and Green Line station areas in an effort to update the public on the Transit Oriented District Plan.

Metro to Operate Holiday Schedule New Year’s Day but Metro Rail Trains, Orange Line Buses will Offer Extra Service

Metro Buses on New Year’s Day will operate on a Sunday schedule, however, there will be extra service on Metro Rail and the Metro Orange Line busway to accommodate patrons taking public transit to the Tournament of Roses events in Pasadena.

Night-Time Work Activity To Widen I-405 Freeway Over Sepulveda Pass To Begin Jan. 13

Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, and lasting approximately two months, night-time weekday-only work will begin on the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Widening Project, the carpool lane construction project that will create a 10-mile northbound carpool lane between the Santa Monica (I-10) and the Ventura (US 101) Freeways.

Metro Approves Extension of Metro Green Line Rail Service to Torrance Regional Transit Center for Further Environmental Study

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors today in approving the Harbor Subdivision Transit Corridor Alternative Analysis (AA) Study ordered further study in a Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Report (DEIS/R) of an extension of Metro Green Line rail service to the proposed Torrance Regional Transit Center in the South Bay area of the region.

Go Metro to Catch the Holiday Tamale Trolley

Ask anyone of  Latin American descent "Who makes the best tamales in L.A.?" and the answer is always, "Mom." Ask where the second best tamales are found and be prepared for a litany of conflicting answers. Everyone is an expert and everyone has an opinion. The good news is that many of the best tamale sources are in East L.A. and many can be reached by the new Metro Gold Line. Add a couple of buses and you can find a whole bunch more.

Go Metro to the LA Annual Auto Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center

Go Metro to the Los Angeles Auto Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles. The show opens today to the public runs through Dec. 13. More than 900 of the latest subcompacts, coupes, sports cars, convertibles, sedans, pick-ups and crossovers will be on display. In addition, auto makers are expected to unveil at least 40 North American concepts and world debuts at this year’s show.

Metro to Debut New Silver Line Bus Service Connecting the San Gabriel Valley with the South Bay Effective Sunday, Dec. 13

Metro will begin operating a new bus service connecting the San Gabriel Valley and South Bay via downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, Dec. 13.  The new Silver Line will operate every 5 to 15 minutes during weekday rush hours.
