Metro Begins Construction of Metro Gold Line Atlantic Eastside Extension Station, Street Widening in Boyle Heights

Metro construction crews will close a segment of Pomona Boulevard in East Los Angeles for early morning work on three different days and on First Street, in Boyle Heights, street widening work will take place for the next three months as part of the construction of the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension construction project.

Metro’s Independent Citizen’s Advisory and Oversight Committee to Hold Public Hearing Monday, April 9

The Independent Citizen’s Advisory and Oversight Committee (ICAOC) will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 9 at 10 a.m. to receive public comment on the results of the independent audit conducted on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) accountability of sales tax revenues and expenditures under Proposition A and Proposition C ordinances from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006.

Metro Bus Lines 605, 620 to detour construction work at USC Medical Center

Beginning March 28 Metro Bus Lines 605 and 620 will be operating on a detour route for approximately the next three months due to construction work at the USC Medical Center. State Street north of Marengo street will be closed to traffic until hospital construction is completed.

Metro and Los Angeles Valley College to Provide Free Training to Military Veterans for Jobs as Metro Bus Operators

Los Angeles Valley College has created a special curriculum for military veterans to prepare them for job interviews as Metro bus operators on March 28 and 29 at 1 p.m. Previous bus driving experience is not required. The free pre-screening will be held at the college’s Professional Media Resource Center, 5800 Fulton Ave. in Valley Glen and will include an overview of Metro, math and reading tests, distribution of Metro’s bus operator applications and an introduction to the support service offered by Work Source California, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Construction Work Continues at Full Speed in Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles for Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension

UPDATE: Third Street from Downey Road to Eastern Avenue, will be closed to eastbound traffic on Wednesday, March 28 and Thursday March 29. Work has been scheduled in the early hours from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. to avoid traffic during the daytime peak hours.
