MTA Board Approves Acceleration of Metro Rapid Bus Program Expansion

(Los Angeles) - The MTA Board of Directors today unanimously approved acceleration of the planned expansion of the Metro Rapid Bus Program whose two existing lines have reduced passenger travel times by approximately 25 percent. The 24-line expansion, which is slated to begin this December with new lines on Vermont Avenue and South Broadway, would be completed by 2008.

The MTA Board of Directors today approved a plan to expand bicycle access to all Metro Rail trains to aid patrons who use their bicycles in their daily commutes while also riding the Metro Rail system.

Metro Blue Line: A Convenient Travel Option to Weekend of Music and Dance at Watts Towers

(Los Angeles) - The Metro Blue Line and two days of music and dance will make for the perfect marriage this weekend as the 21st annual Watts Towers Day of the Drum Festival and the 26th annual Simon Rodia Watts Towers Jazz Festival take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Watts Towers Arts Center.

L.A. Galaxy, MTA Team Up to Kick Graffiti

MTA and Operation Clean Sweep, a program of the Los Angeles City Department of Public Works, teamed up today with L.A. Galaxy soccer team star Cobi Jones to help deliver the message “Kick Graffiti.”  The purpose of the campaign is to raise community awareness about the blight caused by graffiti on buses and rail cars and in the city’s neighborhoods.

In LA / Art’s a Trip Meet the Artists at MTA’s Mega-Art Tour of Five New Installations on Metro Rail.

(LOS ANGELES) Metro Art Docents will lead concurrent art tours featuring the artists of five new installations at three Metro Rail Stations and aboard Metro Blue Line train car #127 on Saturday morning, Sept. 14, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tours are free; valid fare is required to travel on Metro Rail.
