San Gabriel Valley and San Fernando Valley Community-based Transit Sectors set to roll Monday, July 1

MTA is ready to implement new community-based transit sectors in both the San Gabriel Valley and the San Fernando Valley beginning July 1. The sectors are designed to improve bus service, reliability, customer satisfaction and enhanced travel opportunities for those patrons who rely on MTA services.

Los Angeles City Councilman Hal Bernson assumes Chairmanship of MTA Board of Directors

Los Angeles City Councilman Hal Bernson will become the new MTA Board Chair beginning July 1, 2002. Bernson, who is appointed to the 13-member MTA Board of Directors by Mayor James Hahn, has served on the L.A. City Council since 1979. He succeeds outgoing Chair John Fasana, a city councilman from Duarte, who has held the position since July 2001.

MTA to Begin Exclusive Negotiations for Transit-Oriented Development Project at Metro Red Line Hollywood/Vine Station

The MTA Board today authorized CEO Roger Snoble to enter into a six-month exclusive negotiation agreement with Legacy Partners for the development of approximately 2.8 acres of MTA-owned property located at the Metro Red Line Hollywood/Vine subway station.

MTA Board Authorizes Start of Exclusive Negotiations for Joint Development at Metro Red Line Wilshire/Vermont Station

The MTA Board of Directors today authorized staff to enter into a six-month exclusive negotiation agreement with Urban Partners, LLC, for the development of approximately seven acres of MTA-owned properties located above and adjacent to the Metro Red Line Wilshire/Vermont subway station.

Poll of 35,000 Metro Bus Riders Finds It is Getting Better on the Bus

It is getting better on the bus. A recent survey of 35,000 Metro Bus riders in Los Angeles County found that 7 out of 10 customers (69 percent) agree Metro Bus service is improving on a variety of fronts.

MTA’s Eastside Light Rail Project Reaches Milestone as Federal Transit Administration Signs ‘Record of Decision’

The MTA’s Eastside Light Rail Project reached another milestone this week with the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) signing of a Record of Decision (ROD). The FTA action certifies that the project has satisfied all federal environmental guidelines and signals the expected near-term approval for MTA to begin final design of the light rail extension.
