MTA FY 03 adopted budget cuts costs but delivers more service

MTA will spend $126 million less in the next fiscal year than the current year’s budget yet deliver more bus and rail service with no fare increase and be more responsive to local communities. That’s the upshot of the Fiscal Year 03 budget adopted by MTA directors at their May 23 regular meeting.

MTA will hold a public hearing on Saturday, May 18, to receive public comment on a proposed service modification to MTA Line 125 (Rosecrans Avenue) that provides for contracting a portion of the line to Norwalk Transit. The proposed changes would become effective July 1 or later.

MTA will spend $126 million less in the next fiscal year than the current year’s budget yet deliver more bus and rail service with no fare increase and be more responsive to local communities. That’s the upshot of the draft Fiscal Year 03 budget prepared by MTA CEO Roger Snoble.
