Utility Installation in South Yard

Metro Contractors will continue with utility installation activities and begin with a jack and bore operation in the South Yard. The work improves rail reconfiguration in the Division 20 Yard. This work will occur on Road C, which is nearest to the rails and the One Santa Fe Building. The utility work in the south yard continues through next year.
Starting on September 22, 2021, the contractor will mobilize equipment to jack and bore in Road C under the train tracks. Night work is anticipated on September 22, 23, and 24 from 7 pm to 7 am. Also, work hours are 7 am to 7 pm from Wednesday, September 22 through Saturday, September 25.
Jack and bore is an excavation technique often used for utilities. The excavation creates two points of entry for installation and does not require trenching. Construction will consist of excavation, shoring, drilling and dropping piles, and potholing. Material and debris hauling during this work that may generate minor intermittent noise.

The Division 20 Portal Widening and Turnback Facility Project will enhance the Division 20 Rail Yard to allow for improved service times throughout the Metro Red/Purple Line system.
What to Expect
What: Jack and bore under tracks, excavation, shoring, drilling and dropping piles, installing micro piles, utility relocation and potholing activities.
Where: Road C nearest to the rail and One Santa Fe Building
When: September 22 through September 25.
Hours of Construction: 7am to 7pm, and 7pm to 7 am.
