Metro Writing & Style Guide
The Metro Writing & Style Guide has been developed to encourage greater consistency in Metro’s written communications, for external and internal audiences. Its goal is to provide a correct set of communication standards commensurate with Metro’s overall mission.
Metro Logo Guidelines
Our logo is a unique, registered trademark; only the official logo with the ® should be used. Because the integrity of any logo depends on consistent usage, the Metro Logo Guidelines detail the correct standards of use.

Video Guidelines
Metro provides video to our customers via our public-facing website, metro.net. Metro currently uploads all videos to YouTube and embeds them on our site. Visit Metro's YouTube channel for a complete listing of our latest videos.
Video should be provided in the following specifications
- Dimensions: 1920 x 1080 (1080p) or higher;
- Encoding: .mp4 or .mov with H.264
- Provide captions in .srt format for publishing. For additional caption preparation details including sample files, visit YouTube's website.
- Provide highest quality source content in AVI, WMV or QuickTime format encoded for web use ( uncompressed content will be too large ); and
- Refer to YouTube specifications for additional uploading videos and size/duration information.
All videos considered for addition to metro.net must meet the following requirements
- All video or multimedia must be approved by Communications (your Marketing Account Executive) for content;
- Visually, all content must adhere to Metro branding standards (Metro Style Guide and logos provided upon request);
- To adhere to Section 508 Accessibility Guidelines that bind all government agencies, all videos must contain captioning. This transcript or script despites dialog and action contained in the video for use by customers with disabilities using assistive technology; and
- Should contain an approved Metro logo in the outro (fade in/fade out provided upon request)

Photography Guidelines
Metro provides photos to our customers via our public-facing website, metro.net. Photos should be optimized for web in JPEG format.
Photos should be provided in the following specifications
- Maximum width - 600 pixels, maximum height - 600 pixels
- Portrait, landscape, or square ratio
- 72 DPI resolution optimized for web at VERY HIGH Quality (80%)
- Metro web staff can also optimize photography, please supply photos to Account Managers
All photos considered for addition to metro.net must meet the following requirements
- Do not include captions (text) on the final photo, text captions should be handled by HTML
- Photos with people should be accompanied by a model release
- You must have rights and give Metro rights to display photo
- Should contain an approved Metro logo in the outro (fade in/fade out provided upon request)
