1. Call To Order
Chair Ellen Blackman called the meeting to order at 10:30 am.

2. Action: Approval of March 10, 2016 minutes
Corrections to the March meeting minutes:
John Mavis commented that Item Two of the agenda  did not include the approval of minutes.
Cynde Soto mentioned that her name had not been listed as being present for the March AAC meeting.
March meeting minutes were unanimously approved with the corrections.

3. Presentation of Metro Service Excellence Award.
Frank Chavez, AAC Member, presented the Service Excellence Award to Nancy Bautista, Day Porter employee for Public Facilities Services (PFS). Ms. Bautista’s work at the El Monte station was recognized for going beyond her job responsibilities and ensuring that customers with disabilities are safe and provided with a clean facility at El Monte Station. Jose Bueno, Bus Operator from Division 3, received the Service Excellence Award for his hard work and dedication when working at the Abilities Expo on February 6, 2016.

4. Information: Construction of New Union Station East Passenger Pick-up/Drop-Off
Steve Jaffe, Director of General Services, reported on the construction plans and changes that will impact the Patsaouras Transit Plaza and the parking garage. He reported there will be a new drop off/pick up location for private occupancy vehicles and would open by July 1, 2016. A second phase of construction will occur on the Patsaouras Transit Plaza and is expected to begin July 11, 2016 through October 2016.  Committee members shared suggestions for informing the public regarding the construction.

5. Information: Azusa Gold Line Station Follow-Up
Ben Alcazar, Accessibility Administrator, shared information on station features at the Azusa Gold Line station. He reported on the improvements that are found throughout the Gold Line which include wider platforms and detectable warning surfaces at the stations. Committee members shared their observations of the rail stations.

6. Information: Accessibility Unit Update
Joanna Lemus, Accessibility Administrator, demonstrated how to locate the Service Excellence Award through the internet using metro.net. Ms. Lemus shared department outreach events, which included staff attending an event hosted by the Los Angeles Advocacy Organization on Autism at the Junior Blind of America on April 9, 2016. She added that staff will be attending the Low Vision and Resource Fair at the Braille Institute on May 4, 2016. Ms. Lemus shared information on the Metro Expo Line Phase 2 windshield tour for May 2016 and noted the names of members interested in attending the tour.

7. New Business: Raised Subsequent to the Posting of the Agenda
Cynde Soto and Chair, Ellen Blackman, shared information on the Move LA project meeting and discussed the importance of participation.

Daniel Garcia commented that there is a need for AAC to maintain decorum during meetings.

Jonaura Wisdom, Director of Office of Civil Rights, shared Metro’s policy and procedures regarding Civil Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).

Joanna Lemus commented on the Visually Impaired Subcommittee meeting scheduled for next month and gathered input from members regarding scheduling the meeting.
