I take Metro almost everywhere, but five days of the week, Metro takes me to work. Being a passenger frees up my time for other tasks, like reading, napping or writing. In fact, I wrote portions of my novella, Sword of the Undead, while riding the Blue Line. Metro does more than take me to where I'm going and give me time to read, write and snooze. By riding Metro, I see new and familiar faces everyday, and sometimes engage in interesting conversations. That interaction with others that Metro provides makes me feel that I'm part of a village called Los Angeles.
