I use Metro to get to work in Downtown LA. It's great. I don't get gouged for parking, I can read while I ride, and I'm doing my bit to fight smog and global warming. I'm also saving a ton of money on gas and depreciation on my car. I've used my time on Metro to knock out some Kafka, some Jane Jacobs, magazines, and all sorts of other stuff. Best part is when I run out of things to read, I just drop by the Central Library downtown and pick up something else. When I'm tired of reading I look out the window, say on one of those Blue Line rail bridges. I see our great city stretching out for miles and think about how sweet it would be if more people had a chance to get around like this. We might just save the world yet :)
