Without Metro, theatres throughout LA would have actors off stage waiting for the doorbell to ring so they can make their entrance, audiences wondering why the lights haven't faded out yet, and directors ripping their hair out. No one wants to hear, "Sorry I'm late, traffic sucked." Especially when the curtain must go up on time! As a Theatrical Lighting Designer and Stage Manager in the vastness of LA, I rely on the trains and buses to get me to the theatre on time to assure that the actors look good in their light, the music comes in on cue, and that the audience is applauding during curtain call. Whether I have to be in Hollywood, Downtown, NoHo, Long Beach, or even Anaheim, I can count on Metro having me in the booth and standing by to start the show on time, everytime. Plus no need to worry about how I'll be getting home after the closing night party!
