Service Changes During the Los Angeles Marathon

New service added for 2013 - Save travel time by riding the free shuttle bus service between the Metro Expo Line and City of Santa Monica.
The Los Angeles Marathon returns on Sunday, March 17 with the "Stadium to the Sea" course running once again from Downtown LA to Santa Monica.
As a result, there will interruptions in Metro bus service along the route. Lines normally passing through those areas will be rerouted and many other lines will be disrupted.
Extra Metro Rail service will operate as spectators are urged to take Metro Rail to reach viewing areas and affected bus patrons are urged to take Metro Rail to avoid lengthy bus detours and delays.
Metro will operate free non-stop shuttle bus service between the City of Santa Monica and the Metro Expo Culver City Station. Board westbound buses on Washington Bl just south of the Culver City Station. Board eastbound buses on Olympic Bl and 11th St in Santa Monica.
Impact on Trip Planners and NexTrip
Due to technological limitations, short-term, temporary detours are not able to be reflected in Google Transit, Metro Trip Planner, or NexTrip real time bus arrivals.
- Google Transit and Metro's Trip Planner will provide transit directions for regularly scheduled service. Detours will not be reflected in these results, so be sure to check alerts on our website to see if your trip will be affected.
- NexTrip is unable to make predictions for buses that have detoured away from their normal route because it cannot predict when the bus will return to its normal route.
- While NexTrip will continue to work normally for most lines and stops, buses that are presently on detour will not show in predictions at stops further down the route until it is back on its normal route. Further, stops that are only temporarily served by some buses may not show them in results for that stop. This applies to predictions on our website, via text message, third party apps, and on digital signage that displays real time arrival predictions.
Listed here are the Metro lines which will be disrupted before and after the running of the Marathon. Regular service on some lines will be restored as the race progresses but full service on all lines is not expected to resume until approximately early evening.

Metro Expo Line Downtown LA - Culver City
Extra service will operate every 6 minutes with 3-car full platform trains. Connection to FREE express service to Santa Monica will be available at Culver City Station.
