Service Changes During the Los Angeles Marathon

Course From Downtown LA through Hollywood to Santa Monica
The Los Angeles Marathon returns on Sunday, March 18 with the “Stadium to the Sea” course running once again from Downtown LA to Santa Monica. The 26-mile race starts at Dodger Stadium, runs east to Chinatown and Downtown, west on Sunset Boulevard to Hollywood Boulevard, through Hollywood to Santa Monica Boulevard down through Beverly Hills and onto San Vicente Boulevard to Santa Monica.
As a result, there will interruptions in Metro bus service along the route. Lines normally passing through those areas will be rerouted and many other lines will be disrupted. All Metro Rail lines will run as scheduled. Spectators are urged to take Metro Rail to reach viewing areas.
This year, race participants will be able to Go Metro to Union Station and take a Pre-Race shuttle provided by LA Marathon to the starting point at Dodger Stadium. Please click here for more information.

- Regular service on some lines will be restored as the race progresses and roads reopen, but full service on all lines is not expected to resume until approximately early evening. Click here for a map (PDF) of estimated road reopening times.
- Expect residual delays to continue through the evening on all impacted bus routes.
- Impacted passengers are encouraged to use Metro Rail when possible to avoid delays and detours.
- Longer trains will be in operation on the Metro Red, Purple, and Gold Lines from beginning of service thru 2pm.
