Canopy Construction

English: ATTENTION METRO RED LINE PERSHING SQUARE STATION PATRONS

Metro's Contractor will begin constructing a canopy at the station entrance. Activities include demolition of the plaza slab for construction of foundations, columns, superstructure, utility relocation, pavement reconstruction and landscape restoration. The Contractor will begin by installing barricades to create a safe work zone and will conduct an electronic subsurface survey to locate and mark the position and estimate depth of all existing underground utilities. Demolition will follow.

WHAT: Create safe work zone, subsurface and demolition survey

WHEN: Starting Saturday, January 28, 2012 through approximately July, 2012. The construction work hours are Sunday – Thursday between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., possible intermittent day construction activities between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: Metro Red Line Pershing Square Station entrance

WHAT TO EXPECT:

• During the construction, access to the escalator will be maintained.
• Normal pedestrian and vehicular travel around the station shall be maintained outside the construction area.
• Temporary 6' tall fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the station entrance.
• Station elevator access will not be affected due to this work and will remain in operation at all times.
• Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
• The construction work will take place within a barricaded work zone. 
•  Access will be maintained for the Fire Department and emergency responders at all times.

El Contratista de Metro comenzará a construir el pabellón a la entrada de la estación. Construcción del pabellón incluye demolición de losa de la plaza para la construcción de cimientos, columnas, superestructura, reubicación de utilidades, reconstrucción de pavimento y restauración del ajardinaje. El Contratista iniciará mediante la instalación de barricadas para crear una zona de trabajo seguro y seguirá llevar a cabo una encuesta electrónica subterránea para localizar y marcar la posición y profundidad de todas las utilidades subterráneas existentes. WHAT TO EXPECT:

• Durante la construcción, se mantendrá acceso a la escalera mecánica.
• Se mantendrá acceso peatonal y vehicular normal alrededor de la estación y fuera del área de construcción.
• Se instalara cerco 6' de altura alrededor del perímetro de la entrada de la estación.
• El elevador de la estación no será afectado debido a este trabajo y permanecerá funcionando en todo momento.
• El trabajo de construcción llevará a cabo dentro de una zona barricada.
• Se mantendrá acceso en todo momento para el departamento de bomberos y vehículos de emergencia.
