Goods Movement Environmental Justice Analysis and Community Outreach Study
Building on the Multi-County Goods Movement Action Plan, the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG), and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) are partnering to conduct a Goods Movement Environmental Justice Analysis and Community Outreach Study, with RCTC serving as the lead agency.
The purpose of this project is to develop a guidebook for local jurisdictions that identifies strategies that address a broad range of goods movement impacts such as air emissions, noise, visual, and congestion that will be organized by mode, including truck, rail lines, rail yards, warehouses and distribution centers, and ports. The project partners have procured the services of MIG to assist with this project and anticipate completion in Spring 2009. This project is being funded jointly by a grant from Caltrans as well as local funds from Metro, RCTC, and SANBAG.
In addition, a case study will be conducted in each county that will analyze impacts and potential mitigation strategies at a more detailed level.
As part of this project, Community Feedback Group (CFG) meetings will be convened in each county for the purpose of reviewing work products and providing input into this study. The CFG will consist of public and private sector as well as community representatives. Approximately 5 CFG meetings will be held, about once every two months.
