Overview

Metro is proposing a northern extension of the successful Metro Orange Line service. Metro has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) that studies various alternatives that would connect the Metro Orange Line Canoga Station with the Chatsworth Metrolink Station (and a possible on-street extension to the SR-118 Freeway).

The project’s goals are as follows:

  • Improve north-south mobility in the western San Fernando Valley by connecting activity centers along the corridor and connecting the Metro Orange Line with Metrolink
  • Support land use and development goals by making the corridor’s land uses accessible by transit, pedestrians and bicycles
  • Maximize community input by incorporating community-generated ideas and solutions into the project
  • Create a project that is compatible with and enhances the physical environment
  • Is cost-effective and affordable
  • Minimizes impacts on the community
