Take the time to learn what you can do to keep yourself safe and accident-free along the new Metro Orange Line Extension, near Canoga Av between Victory Bl and Devonshire St. Below are habits you should always practice when driving, walking and biking near the busway. And remember, look and listen before crossing the busway - it can save your life.

When driving:

• Obey all street signage and road markings
• Never run a red light – Metro operates photo enforcement cameras at every crossing
• Watch for flashing signs that indicate a bus is coming
• Observe the “Keep Clear” zone at crossings
• Make sure you turn onto a street – never onto the busway
• When turning left across the busway, watch for vehicles in both directions
• Do not make a right turn on red light
• Never try to beat an Orange Line bus across an intersection

When walking:

• Obey all pedestrian and street signage
• Always be alert at intersections
• Always use crosswalks
• Wait for the "Walk" signal before stepping into crosswalks -  never jaywalk
• Never walk on the busway
• Never try to beat an Orange Line bus across an intersection

When biking:

• Obey all street signage and road markings
• Never run a red light
• Watch for flashing signs that indicate a bus is coming
• Observe the “Keep Clear” zone at every crossing
• Make sure you turn onto a street – never onto the busway
• Use the designated bike path – do not ride on the busway
• When turning left across the busway, watch for vehicles in both directions
• Do not make a right turn at a red light

Pay special attention to signs posted near the Metro Orange Line busway:

	Be careful – a bus traveling at speeds up to 50 miles per hour is coming. Do not cross the busway.
	It is illegal to turn right when the light is red.
	It is illegal to cross the street here – go to the legal crosswalk.
	Do not enter into this area.
	Keep cars clear and do not stop in this area.
	Cars and bicyclists must wait behind this street marking until the light is green.
