Construction Notice - September 12

ATTENTION EL MONTE STATION PATRONS

The El Monte Station project consists of a two story building that will house a public bus and terminal station, have limited retail, a customer service center, and offer surface parking. It will bring new, state-of-the-art energy efficient and sustainable building methods, expand the bus capacity transit facility, and provide the San Gabriel Valley with a modern and aesthetically attractive bus transit facility.

WHAT: Construction of the El Monte Station

WHEN: The project started on April 20, 2010 and construction is anticipated to last approximately 20 months

WHERE: El Monte Station located at the corner of Santa Anita Av and Ramona Bl in the City of El Monte.

IMPACTS:

The former El Monte Station has now been closed and will be demolished and reconstructed over the next 18 – 20 months. A temporary bus terminal has been established as of September 12, and will be used for all bus operations until the new station is completed. The temporary terminal is located near the intersection of Ramona and Santa Anita in an area that was previously one of the parking lots for the station.

Parking in the rear parking structure and adjacent lot has been closed and will remain so for the duration of the construction period.

Parking will continue to be available in other existing parking lots. An additional third parking lot has been added and is now available for parking. The new lot is located at the south end of the property (formerly the site of a Chevrolet dealership).

Signs guiding both vehicles and pedestrians around the transit center have been posted.

Construction zones are blocked off by a chain-link fence, and pedestrians are being redirected to a safe area outside of the construction zone.
