Work Notice - Potholing Activity

ATTENTION COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS

What:

As part of the preliminary engineering for the proposed Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Light RailLine, Metro's Contractor will conduct potholing activities to help locate and identify underground utilities along the alignment.

When and Where:

May 2 - May 6, 2011, 7:00am-4:00pm for approximately one week, weather permitting. Along the section of the Metro Railroad Right-of-Way that runs along the west side of Aviation Blvd. from 1-105 to W. Arbor Vitae

May 9 - 13, 2011, 7:00am-4:00pm for approximately one week, weather permitting. Along the section of the Metro Railroad Right-of-Way that runs along the north side of E. Florence Ave. from N. Eucalyptus Avenue to W. 67th Street

May 16 - May 20, 2011, 7:00am-4:00pm, for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Along the median of Crenshaw Boulevard from W. 59th Street to Exposition Boulevard

What to Expect:

• Potholing consists of boring a 10 inch diameter hole with a vacuum truck to locate underground utilities. Once an underground utility is located the hole is filled back in.
• You may see a vacuum truck and a three person crew working in the road during the day.
• Intermittent traffic delays may occur on Crenshaw Boulevard in one lane of traffic and the left turn pocket and median lane where required while work is taking place. Noise and minimal vibration from drilling.
• Lanes will be cleared at the end of the work day and re-opened for regular use.
