Project Update Open House – Metro invited the community to a Project Update Open House to get the latest information on the last milestones for the environmental process and receive a summary of the Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Transit alignment, station locations, maintenance facility site and the analysis of environmental impacts and mitigations.
The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project Team recently completed an analysis of four sites for the development of a new maintenance facility which is required for the operation of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) line. The comment period for the environmental document closed on Monday, April 11th. A link to the board report and our staff recommendation can be found on the Reports and Info tab. The Metro Board approved the staff recommendation of the maintenance facility site (Locally Preferred Alternative) at the Board Meeting on Thursday, April 28, 2011.
Open House/Public Meeting and Open House/Public Hearing – Metro invited the community to learn about and comment on the evaluation of proposed maintenance facility sites for Metro’s light rail system and an update on potential impacts to parklands and historic resources.
Maintenance Facility Site Open House - Metro invited the community to participate in a Maintenance Facility Site Open House. The open house focused on the four proposed maintenance facility sites selected for environmental review as part of the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line.
Station Area Planning Workshops/Project Update Meetings - Metro invited the community to participate in six Station Area Planning Workshops/Project Update Meetings. We provided a project update, discussed input received from past workshops, and presented new information on station alternatives, station area planning, streetscape, and landscape design concepts. We also provided an update on the status of project options and on the maintenance facility site evaluation. We held the following meetings:
Streetscape Design Workshop - Metro invited the community to participate in Streetscape Design Workshops for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor. The purpose was to share ideas and hear the community’s thoughts on streetscape, landscape, and urban design concepts for two sections of Crenshaw Bl.
Station Planning/Maintenance Facility Workshop - Metro invited the community to participate in the Station Area Planning and Maintenance Facility Planning workshops. Each meeting focused on a different segment of the corridor and presented specific information on the station(s) located in that segment.
Maintenance Facility Workshop - Metro invited the community to participate in a Maintenance and Service Facility workshop. The workshop provided context on the compatibility of rail yards with other land uses such as residential and commercial and familiarized participants with Metro’s operations and site requirements. Maintenance and Service Facilities are used to store, maintain, repair and clean light rail vehicles.
