I-405 - Sepulveda Pass Project Notice

March 25

Effective Monday, March 25, 2013 through Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 10pm to 6am, nightly lane reductions, street and ramp closures will be implemented at the northbound I-405 connector to eastbound and westbound I-10, as well as Pico Bl. This closure is necessary to remove deck plywood and demolish the existing Exposition Bl undercrossing.

March 05

The northbound Sepulveda Bl between Ohio Av and Wilshire Bl will be reduced to one lane Tuesday, March 5, 2013 through Monday, March 11, 2013, weekdays only, between 9am and 3:30pm. One lane will remain open on northbound Sepulveda Bl from Ohio Av to Wilshire Bl. This closure is necessary to complete pile driving and foundation support for the northbound I-405 on-ramp from eastbound Wilshire. 

April 01

April 12

A full directional northbound freeway closure from the I-10 connector to the Olympic Bl on-ramp is scheduled for the nights of Friday, April 12, Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, 2013. The full northbound freeway closure is scheduled to prepare roadway and to stage K-rail for additional lane and median construction.

April 20

A full closure of Wilshire Bl, from Sepulveda Bl to the southbound I-405 on- and off-ramps, is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9pm to 6am.

April 18

A full nighttime closure of Sepulveda Bl from Ohio Av to Wilshire Bl is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2013 and Friday, April 19, 2013, 9pm to 6am. This closure is necessary to pour cement for the northbound I-405 off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl.

April 22

Westbound and eastbound Wilshire Bl from Sepulveda Bl to Bonsall Av will be closed Monday, April 22, 2013 and Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 10pm to 5am. This closure is necessary to complete barrier work for the southbound I-405 off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl.

April 26

Multiple closures during the April 26 weekend in the Mulholland Dr/Skirball Center Dr area include lane closures. For example, there will be lane closures and a flagging operation on Skirball Center Dr and the northbound Skirball Center Dr ramps from Friday, April, 26, at 10 pm, to Sunday, April 28, at 8 am. Both northbound Skirball Center Dr on- and off- ramps will be closed from Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28, 7pm to 8am. The Mulholland Bridge will be closed on Friday and Saturday night starting at 10 pm and ending at 8 am.

May 10

Full 10-hour northbound freeway closures from the Santa Monica Bl off-ramp to the Santa Monica Bl on-ramp are scheduled for the nights of Friday, May 10, Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 11pm to 9am. The full northbound freeway closures at Santa Monica Bl are scheduled to facilitate the approach slab repair (the connection between the freeway and the freeway bridge).

April 09

A full closure of Sepulveda Bl from Ohio Av to Wilshire Bl is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2013, from 9pm to 6am. This closure is necessary to pour cement for the northbound I-405 off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl.

February 20

Pico Bl will be fully closed the nights of Wednesday, February 20, 2013 and Thursday, February 21, 2013, from 9pm to 6am, from Sawtelle Bl to Cotner Av. This night closure is necessary to form and pour the barrier and strip the forms for the I-405 Bridge at Pico Bl.

February 21

Wilshire Bl will be fully closed on week nights from Thursday, February 21, 2013 through Friday, March 1, 2013, from 10pm to 5am, from Bonsall Av to Sepulveda Bl. This night closure is necessary to install the overhang falsework for the I-405 Bridge at Wilshire Bl.

February 22

The contractor anticipates the closure of the northbound Skirball Center Drive on- and off-ramps during the February 22 - 24 weekend to support work toward the realignment of the northbound Skirball ramps. The ramps closure will begin at 7pm, Friday night, and last until 6am, Monday morning, weather permitting.

March 01

The northbound I-405 will be reduced from 5 lanes to 2 lanes, from the Montana Av off-ramp to the Getty Center Dr off-ramp, for 55 hours, starting 10pm on Friday, March 1, 2013. The lanes will re-open at 5am on Monday, March 4, 2013. This lane reduction is necessary for paving of the future high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane and for realignment of the I-405.

February 12

The contractor will implement nightly full closures of Sepulveda Bl between Skirball Center Dr and Mountaingate Dr from 10pm to 6am for approximately three months.  These closures are anticipated to begin Tuesday, February 12, 2013.  This closure is required to support the widening of Sepulveda Bl and create additional capacity to accommodate the new southbound Skirball ramps. 

January 17

Wilshire Bl will be fully closed on week nights from Thursday, January 17, 2013, to Friday, February 8, 2013, from 10pm to 5am, from Federal Av to Sepulveda Bl. This night closure is necessary to install metal bridge decking for the southbound I-405 off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl.

January 17

The Sunset Way cul-de-sac will be closed from 7am to 5pm starting Thursday, January 17, 2013. The closure is expected to continue until Friday, January 25, 2013. This closure is necessary to excavate for construction of retaining wall 1738A

January 18

Steel pile driving will be conducted at the northbound I-405 Sunset Bl off-ramp from 7am to 4pm starting Friday, January 18, 2013. This work is expected to continue until Monday, February 4, 2013. The steel pile driving is necessary for construction of the bridge abutment foundation.

February 08

This is a revised notice. The Cotner Av on-ramp to northbound I-405 will be closed nightly, beginning Friday, February 8, 2013, until Friday, March 1, 2013. During daytime hours, the on-ramp will be reduced from two lanes to one lane. Turn pockets on Cotner Av for on-ramp access will be closed nightly during the ramp closure. This closure is necessary to demolish the existing on-ramp, and to conduct roadway paving and K-rail shifts for the new on-ramp.

January 17

This is a revision to a prior notice. Wilshire Bl will now be fully closed on weeknights from Thursday, January 17, 2013,until Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 10pm to 5am, from Federal Av to Sepulveda Bl. One weekend night closure is expected on Saturday, February 9, 2013. These night closures are necessary to install metal bridge decking for the southbound I-405 off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl.

March 05

The contractor is anticipating to implement a full closure of Sepulveda Bl, between the southbound Getty ramps and northbound Getty on-ramp, beginning Tuesday, March 5, 2013, for approximately three nights.

March 13

Effective Wednesday, March 13, 2013 through Sunday, March 31, 2013, lane reductions and full-ramp closures will be implemented at southbound I-405 from the Olympic/Pico off-ramp to the eastbound and westbound I-10 connector. This closure is necessary to backfill, drill, set and install a retaining wall

March 13

Southbound Sepulveda Bl at Constitution Av will be reduced to one lane, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 through Friday, March 15, 2013, between 9am and 3pm. One lane will remain open on southbound Sepulveda Bl at Constitution Av. Flaggers will be present to assist with access. This closure is necessary to complete traffic signal reconfiguration at Sepulveda Bl and Constitution Av.

March 14

Upcoming full nighttime closure and daytime lane reduction on Sepulveda Bl, from Montana Av to Moraga Dr ramps, and on Church Ln/Ovada Pl, from 300 ft west of Sepulveda Bl to Acanto St, begin on Thursday, March 14, 2013, and continuing until Wednesday, March 20, 2013. These closures and lane reductions are necessary to grind the existing roadway, pave and re-stripe Sepulveda Bl and Church Ln/Ovada Pl, as well as conduct bridge demolition and utility work.

March 17

Construction-related closures and lane reductions are scheduled to end Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 4am in preparation for the LA Marathon. No closures will occur after 4am for the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project from the I-10 connector to I-405 to Montana Av, Sunday, March 17, 2013. 

March 25

Construction work on the Best Management Practices (BMP) at Cotner Av from Mississippi Av to La Grange Av begins Monday, March 25, 2013 through April 19, 2013 from 7am to 4pm. The work includes potholing, excavation and backfilling the infiltration structure for the BMP.

March 23

The contractor is scheduled to implement a full directional (northbound) freeway closure on the night of Saturday, March 23, 2013, from the Getty Center Dr ramps to US 101 freeway. Freeway lanes will begin to close as early as 11pm, leading up to the full northbound freeway closure from 1 am to 6 am, weather permitting.

March 25

Westbound and eastbound Wilshire Bl from Sepulveda Bl to the southbound I-405 on and off-ramps will be closed Monday, March 25, from 10pm to 6am. This closure is necessary to pour cement for the southbound I-405 off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Bl Bridge. 

March 11

Construction at Beloit Av between Santa Monica Bl and Iowa Av, Monday, March 11, 2013 through Friday, March 15, 2013, between 6am and 5pm. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and vehicles on Beloit Av. This work is necessary to form, pour and strip the Santa Monica Bl on-ramp.

March 08

The Cotner Av on-ramp to northbound I-405 will be closed nightly, until Monday, March 11, 2013. During daytime hours, the on-ramp will be reduced from two lanes to one lane. Turn pockets on Cotner Av for on-ramp access will be closed nightly during the ramp closure. This closure is necessary to demolish the existing on-ramp, to conduct roadway paving and to shift K-rail for the new on-ramp.

March 09

The contractor is scheduled to implement another full directional southbound freeway closure during the late night hours of Saturday, March 9, 2013, in order to construct falsework structures for the Mulholland Bridge. The directional full freeway closure will be from US 101 to the Getty Center Dr. ramps, weather permitting. 

May 16

The bicycle path on the west side of the southbound I-405 freeway from Waterford St to Constitution Av will be closed from through Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 7am to 3:30pm and from 10pm to 7am. The closure is necessary for construction of the sound wall along the southbound I-405 from Waterford St to Constitution Av.

The southbound I-405 off-ramp to westbound Wilshire Bl will be closed beginning Friday, March 8, 2013 at 8pm until 6am on Friday, March 22, 2013. This closure is necessary to demolish the existing off-ramp and to conduct roadway paving and K-rail shifts for the new off-ramp.

April 22

January 07

Exposition Bl will be fully closed on Monday, January 7, 2013, and Wednesday, January 9, 2013, 10pm to 5am, from Sawtelle Bl to Sepulveda Bl. This night closure is necessary to construct deck enforcement formwork for the I-405 Exposition Bl Bridge undercrossing.

December 03

Construction of catch basins, manholes and storm drain lines will start at the intersection of Sepulveda Bl and Sepulveda Wy on Monday, December 3, 2012, for two weeks.
