Metro is adding 100 buses and 32 rail cars to enhance service on the bus and rail lines serving the area which will be impacted by the I-405 closure. In addition, no fare will be charged over the weekend of July 16-17 on the Metro Red, Purple and Orange lines, and on selected bus lines including the 761, which travels through the Sepulveda Pass.
Service will be increased along segments of Metro Local lines 2 (Sunset Bl) and 150 (Ventura Bl), Metro Express Line 534 (Malibu), Metro Rapid lines 704 (Santa Monica Bl), 720 (Wilshire Bl), 733 (Venice Bl), 761 (Van Nuys Bl) and the Metro Orange Line.
Additionally, service in the San Fernando Valley will be increased on numerous corridors. The following lines with weekend frequencies of approximately 60 minutes will now operate approximately every 30 minutes, with those extra trips operating in between regularly scheduled trips. These include Lines 96 (Riverside Dr), 155 (Olive Av), 156 (Burbank Bl), 158 (Woodman Av-Devonshire St), 161 (Agoura Rd), 167 (Plummer St-Coldwater Canyon Av), 183 (Magnolia Bl), 218 (Laurel Canyon Bl), 222 (Hollywood Wy), 236 (Balboa Bl), 242-243 (Tampa Av-Winnetka Av), 244 (De Soto Av), 245 (Topanga Canyon Bl).
The Metro Red and Purple lines will operate larger trains with 10-minute frequencies throughout the weekend.
The Metro Green Line will operate with 10-minute frequencies throughout the weekend and with longer trains during early morning and late night periods. Longer Blue and Gold Line trains will also be in operation throughout early morning and late night periods.
Metro staff and volunteers will be placed throughout the system at key locations to assist customers this weekend.
Metrolink is adding to its regularly-scheduled weekend service with seven round-trips on the Ventura County Line and nine additional trips on the Antelope Valley Line. Metrolink will also begin offering a $10 Weekend Pass beginning July 1, good for unlimited rides on Metrolink trains from Friday night at 7pm through Sunday night at 11:59pm. Amtrak is offering $3 fares (50% off the regular (full) adult rail fare).
