Public to Get First Look at New Metro Liner Vehicle at Annual Warner Center RideFest When the Metro Orange
Line opens later this year, passengers will make the 14-mile trip from
Warner Center to North Hollywood on the new Metro Liner, a sleek 60-foot
vehicle the likes of which have not been seen before in Los Angeles. The
public can get its first look at the Metro Liner at RideFest, an annual
Warner Center event which promotes transit use and other ways to beat
traffic congestion to Warner Center employees. Sponsored by Metro,
Los Angeles Department of Transportation and Warner Center’s
Transportation Management Organization, which represents the larger
Warner Center employers, developers and property owners, this year’s
RideFest is scheduled for Thursday, June 9, 2005, from 11:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m., at the Warner Center
Transit Hub on Owensmouth Avenue between Oxnard and Erwin Streets in
Woodland Hills. In addition to
showcasing the Metro Liner, RideFest will include live entertainment,
prize drawings, a barbeque lunch and a housing development fair. The 14-mile Metro Orange Line will provide cross Valley commuters with an option to driving on parallel streets and the heavily congested 101 Freeway. The line will include 13 stations and parking at six stations to accommodate a total of more than 3,200 vehicles. Running time from Warner Center to North Hollywood will be approximately 40 minutes.
