Go Metro to Hollywood’s Santa Parade November 30
- Go Metro to the second annual Hollywood Santa Parade and Winterfest street festival on Sunday, November 30.
The Metro Red Line subway and Metro buses stop at prime parade viewing locations at Hollywood/Highland and Hollywood/Vine stations.
This year’s Hollywood Santa Parade will be combined with Winterfest, a free all day street festival that will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
There will be games, food, and a stage where event goers can watch performances by Demi Lovato and other Radio Disney favorites. The parade, sponsored by the offices of Los Angeles city council members Eric Garcetti and Tom LaBonge, will showcase a star-studded evening of colorful floats, marching bands, equestrian units, popular celebrities and more.
The parade starts at 5 p.m. and runs along a 2.3 mile route on Hollywood Boulevard, Vine Street, Sunset Boulevard and Orange Drive. The parade is free, but Metro riders can save $2 if they want reserved VIP grandstand seats. Call 1-866-PARADE -1 and use the word “Rudolph.”
Metro will add extra capacity on all Metro Red Line trains on parade day. Prior to the parade, trains will operate every 12 minutes to Hollywood from downtown Los Angeles and from the San Fernando Valley. Following the parade, trains will depart the Hollywood area every 12 minutes. Service will operate every 20 minutes after 8 p.m.
The last train to North Hollywood will depart Hollywood/Vine at 12:36 a.m. and Hollywood/Highland at 12:38 a.m. It will connect with the last Metro Orange Line bus to leave North Hollywood at 12:56 a.m.
The last train to downtown, connecting to the Metro Blue Line, will depart Hollywood/Highland at 12:22 a.m. and Hollywood/Vine at 12:24 a.m.
The last train to downtown (no connection with the Metro Blue Line) will depart Hollywood/Highland at 1:02 a.m. and Hollywood/Vine at 1:04 a.m.
Parade attendees using Metro Bus service should plan trips according to Sunday schedules. Metro Bus Lines providing access to this year’s parade route include lines 2, 210, 212, and 217. Due to parade route and street closures, Metro will re-route eight bus lines in the Hollywood area. The lines to be detoured are 2, 156, 163, 180, 181, 210, 212 and 217. Detours will begin around 2 p.m. on Sunday and will last until the end of the parade. For customized trip information go to the Metro Trip Planner at www.metro.net or call 1-800-COMMUTE.
