Go Metro to the Zoo and Museum of the American West

We're surrounded by amusements. For example, hop on Metro Local bus 96 in downtown Los Angeles or Sherman Oaks or transfer to Line 96 from the Metro Red Line at Universal City Station. It can carry you to the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, as well as to the Museum of the American West, just across the parking lot.
The Zoo is home to 1,200 animals from around the world, living in natural habitats and surrounded by 800 different species of plants. See baby animals and pet exotic creatures. See the popular bird show. Take a picnic or dine in one of the many restaurants. The Zoo is open every day of the year except Dec. 25.
The nearby Museum of the American West at Griffith Park, part of the Autry National Center, explores Western history with objects, art, special exhibits and programs. It's all about cowboys, Indians and early settlers the way they really were. And it's a great introduction to the development of the American West.
