Metro to Do Final Re-striping of Third Street in East Los Angeles as Part of Metro Gold Line Eastside Construction Project

Metro construction crews will do intermittent street closures to re-stripe Third Street between Atlantic Boulevard and Indiana Street, in East Los Angeles, beginning the week of September 15.

To minimize construction impacts to the community, the work will take place for one week during night hours. The closures will be implemented in block sections and one direction at a time, first eastbound and then westbound. The work has been schedule from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for eastbound traffic and from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for westbound traffic.

Residents should look for the signs posted to re-direct local traffic. Access to pedestrian traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will feature eight stations (two underground), will span six miles from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles via the Arts District/Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic/Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles. It is scheduled to open in June 2009.

Residents who need more information should contact Metro Community Relations at (213) 922-2259 or visit Metro website at www.metro.net/projects_studies/eastside/street_closures.htm
for up-to-date street closures information.
