Go Metro to Dedication of Vista Hermosa Park July 19 Go Metro to the dedication and opening of Vista Hermosa Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19. Vista Hermosa Park is a 10-acre recreation center with walking and hiking trails, a playground and soccer field, just west of downtown Los Angeles. The park is next to the Edward R. Roybal Learning Center, a 2,800-student high school that will open this fall. It's easy to get there. Metro Local Line 14 and Metro Rapid 714 travel down 1st Street to Vista Hermosa Park, at the corner of First and Toluca streets. It's possible to connect from the Metro Red Line at Civic Center Station to both buses. To reach Line 14 from Civic Center Station, walk one block south on Hill Street to Second Street and then one block west to Olive Street. (Get off at First and Bixel streets and walk two blocks west to the park.) To catch Metro Rapid 714 from Civic Center Station walk three blocks west on First to First and Hope streets. (Get off at Beverly and Belmont and walk two blocks east on Beverly to the park.) There will be food, entertainment and children's activities at the opening day celebration. Among officials attending will be California Assembly Member Kevin de Leon, L.A. County Supervisor Gloria Molina, L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, City Council Member Ed P. Reyes, City Council Member Jose Huizar and LAUSD Board President Monica Garcia. Vista Hermosa Park is at the corner of First Street and Toluca, between the 110 Harbor Freeway and Glendale Boulevard.
