Metro, Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition to Conduct Community Meetings on Bike and Pedestrian Access to Transit Hubs The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) are holding a series of community meetings to discuss bicycle and pedestrian access to several Metro Rail stations. The next community meeting is scheduled for the Metro Blue Line Rosa Parks Station on Saturday, July 12, at Mona Park, 2291 E. 121st & Willowbrook Ave. Los Angeles south of the station, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bicycle Parking is available. This meeting is part of a comprehensive study of existing conditions and recommendations for improvements at a total of six transit hubs in Los Angeles County. Spanish translators will be present. There also will be a future meeting at one remaining Metro Rail station to look at bicycle and pedestrian access:
The Metro Blue Line Rosa Parks Station was selected, in addition to five other rail stations, because of its high transit use. The study is funded by a Caltrans Environmental Justice Planning Grant. The public will have an opportunity to bike and walk around the station with group leaders to assess its bicycle and pedestrian access, present findings, and provide key input into the plan. These findings will be incorporated into a final report of recommendations to be completed in the fall of 2008. These reports can be used by cities in applying for grant funds to improve access to the stations.
