Metro to Implement Six New Metro Rapid Bus Lines, Create a New Line Between Sun Vally and Hollywood and Implement Other Service Modification Effective Sunday, June 29

Metro will introduce six new Metro Rapid Bus lines to its growing list of successful rapid service and create a new line operating between Sun Valley and Hollywood as part of bus service enhancements effective Sunday, June 29.
Service on all six new Metro Rapid Bus lines being implemented begin their service on Monday, June 30. They include:

Line 715 (Manchester-Firestone Metro Rapid) New Rapid service from LAX City Bus Center to Firestone Blvd./Atlantic Ave. in South Gate. (Weekday service only from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

Line 724 (Sylmar Station-North Hollywood Metro Rapid) New weekday Rapid service operating from the Metrolink Sylmar Station to North Hollywood via San Fernando Road and Lankershim Blvd. (Weekday service only from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

Line 730 (Downtown LA-Pico/Rimpau Metro Rapid) New Rapid service from Cesar Chavez Ave./Vignes Street to Pico and Rimpau via Pico Blvd. (Weekdays service only from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

Line 753 (Downtown LA-Imperial Station Metro Rapid) New Rapid service along the route of local line 53 via Central Ave. with a south terminal to be located at the Imperial Station in Willowbrook. (Weekday service only from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

Line 762 (Pasadena-Artesia Blue Line Station Metro Rapid) New Rapid service along the route of Line 260 between Fair Oaks Ave./Washington Ave. and Artesia Blue Line Station during weekdays and Fair oaks Ave./Colorado Blvd. and Atlantic Ave./Imperial Highway on Saturdays. (Weekday service operates from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday service operates from 7 a.m.
to 7 p.m.)

Line 794 (Downtown LA- Burbank Station Metro Rapid) New weekday Rapid service operating from downtown Los Angeles to downtown Burbank via San Fernando Road and Brand Blvd. (Weekday service only from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
The new Metro Rapid Lines implemented replace Metro limited stop service along those corridors. Those limited stop lines to be eliminated include 315, 330, 350, 361 and 394.

With the implementation of the six Metro Rapid Lines, a total of 26 Rapid Bus Lines will be in operation throughout the county. In the next year, an additional three Metro Rapid Bus Lines operated by Torrance Transit, Culver City Transit and Santa Monica Big Blue Bus are planned to be implemented.

Other service modifications effective Sunday, June 29 include:

Line 14 (Downtown LA- Beverly Hills) Reallocate those trips to Line 714 Metro Rapid to improve frequency and span of service.

Line 94 (Downtown LA – Sylmar Station) Extend northern route to Sylmar Metrolink Station to replace canceled segment of Line 394 on weekdays and weekends; reallocate selected trips to new Metro Rapid Line 794 on weekdays only.

Line 163 (West Hills – Sun Valley) Restructure into two separate routes by breaking the line at Vineland Ave. and San Fernando Road; Operate Sherman Way segments as Line 165 and Hollywood Way segment as new Line 222.

New Line 222 (Sun Valley – Hollywood) Create a new line between Sun Valley and Hollywood via Hollywood Way and Barham Blvd, replacing canceled segment of Line 163.

Line 224 (Sylmar – Universal City Station) Reallocate selected trips to new Metro Rapid Line 724 on weekdays only.

Line 705 (W. Hollywood – Vernon Metro Rapid) Improve the frequency and span of service.

Line 714 (Beverly Metro Rapid) Improve service on weekdays to include midday service.

Line 770 (Downtown LA – El Monte Metro Rapid) Improve service levels during weekdays and add Saturday service.

Line 940 (Hawthorne Rapid Express) Discontinue service. Alternate service provided on Hawthorne Metro Rapid Line 740.
