Go Metro to Christopher Street Festival and Parade June 7-8

This weekend, June 7 and 8, take Metro to West Hollywood for the Christopher Street Festival and Parade. Forget about prospecting for a parking spot, enjoy the festivities and let Metro do the driving.

Metro lines 2, 4, 10, 105, 220, 305 and 550 provide bus service to the area. So does the Metro Red Line subway, in combination with the bus. To use the Metro Red Line, exit at the Hollywood/Highland station and catch the 217 bus heading west (the stop is on the north side of Hollywood Boulevard, outside the Hollywood/Highland station) to Santa Monica Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Or take the Metro Red Line to the Vermont/Santa Monica station and catch Line 4 or 704 west on Santa Monica Boulevard to West Hollywood.

The Sunday parade will begin at 11 a.m. and travel down Santa Monica Boulevard from Crescent Heights to Robertson Boulevard.

Please note that while streets are closed (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) for the Sunday parade, some Metro buses will run alternate routes. On Lines 4 and 704 there will be no service on Santa Monica Boulevard between Beverly Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Riders should board buses at regular stops on Santa Monica Boulevard west of Beverly Boulevard or east of Fairfax Avenue, or on Melrose Avenue between La Cienega Boulevard and Fairfax. On Line 305 there will be no service on San Vicente Boulevard between Beverly Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard or on Sunset Boulevard between San Vicente Boulevard and Doheny Drive. Riders should board buses at regular stops on San Vicente Boulevard south of Beverly Boulevard, or on Sunset Boulevard west of Doheny Drive. On line 105 there will be no service north of Melrose Avenue. Riders should board buses at regular stops south of Melrose.

The festival in West Hollywood Park, Saturday from noon to midnight and Sunday from
11 a.m. to 10 p.m., will include entertainment by nationally recognized performers, food vendors and booths hosted by community organizations. Entry gates will be at Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards and at Melrose Avenue and San Vicente. Tickets for the festival will be $20 at the gates and $15 in advance online by going to www.lapride.org. The parade is free.

For more information on getting to the Christopher Street West Festival and Parade, visit www.metro.net or call 1-800-COMMUTE. For more information on the Festival and Parade visit www.lapride.org.
