Go Metro to the 23rd Annual Long Beach Bayou & Mardi Gras Festival and Receive $5 Off Admission

Go Metro to celebrate the culture of New Orleans and Louisiana at the 23rd annual Long Beach Bayou & Mardi Gras Festival, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 27 to Sunday, June 28 at Rainbow Lagoon Park. Just take the Metro Blue Line to Pacific Station and walk about 15 minutes south.

This all-ages event will feature Cajun, zydeco and blues music along with a daily Mardi Gras Parade led by the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Band. There will be free dance workshops, a tent for kids to create costumes and a French Quarter arts and crafts marketplace, along with an array of mouthwatering Cajun and Creole food.

The two-day celebration will close on Sunday night with a performance by Blues legends: guitarist Hubert Sumlin and harmonica and drum player Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, who both played in the Muddy Waters band. They will perform with Jimmy Vivino’s East West Connection.

Metro patrons who show a valid Metro pass, Metro Rail ticket or Destination Discount card at the Box Office will receive $5 off all-day admission. Rainbow Lagoon Park is at the north side of Shoreline Drive, between Shoreline Village Drive and Linden Avenue.
