May 1st Planned Marches to Impact Metro Bus Service Metro plans to run regular Metro Bus and Metro Rail service on Thursday, May 1. However, in anticipation of several planned marches set to take place on that day during the May 1st National Protest, some Metro Bus service will be detoured and experience delays. For the planned march on Broadway from Olympic to City Hall: Two other planned May 1st marches As a result of the multiple marches converging on the Central Business District from different directions, there will be periods during the afternoon when buses, along with all other vehicular traffic, will not be allowed to operate across some intersections along the detour routes. When this occurs, Metro Bus Operators will be required to stop in a safe location, open the doors to allow passengers to alight, and wait for the marchers to pass the location. Los Angeles Department of Transportation Traffic Engineers will reopen the intersections behind the marchers as soon as it is safe to do so. Metro understands the inconvenience that these events cause for our patrons and ask that they plan their daily trips accordingly and allow for extra travel time. Patrons can call 1-800-C-O-M-M-U-T-E or visit Metro’s Web site at www.metro.net for updated information. All Metro Rail lines (Metro Red/Purple Line, Metro Blue Line, Metro Green Line and Metro Gold Line) will run on normal schedules.
