MTA
to Begin Operating Three New Limited Stop Bus Lines; Implement Two New
Metro Rapid Lines and Make Other Service Improvements Effective Sunday,
Dec. 15 Beginning
Sunday, Dec. 15, MTA will implement two new Metro Rapid Bus Lines and
begin operating three new limited stop Metro Bus lines in an effort to
enhance bus service in the region. “The
creation of five bus service sectors earlier this year has brought about
needed changes in our bus system to reflect what the community
transportation needs are,” said MTA CEO Roger Snoble. MTA
will begin operating three new limited stop bus service on lines: 370
(Garvey Ave.), operating peak hours on weekdays between El Monte and
Atlantic Avenue, 380 (Hollywood Blvd./Colorado Blvd.), weekday peak hour
service between Vermont and Lake Avenue and 381 (Figueroa Street), between
Century Boulevard and York Boulevard. MTA for the first time also will
operate existing limited bus stop line 333 (Venice Blvd.), on Saturdays
between Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles. MTA
also will begin operating two new Metro Rapid Bus Lines. Line 745
(Broadway Metro Rapid), will provide new Metro Rapid service on South
Broadway from the Harbor Metro Green Line station to Union Station in
downtown Los Angeles. Line 754 (Vermont Metro Rapid), will operate along
Vermont Avenue from the Vermont Metro Green Line station to the Metro Red
Line subway station at Vermont and Sunset. Fares on these two new Metro
Rapid Lines will be free on Sunday and Monday, Dec. 15 & 16 only. MTA
is implementing shuttle service on Line 45 (Broadway/Mercury Ave.),
between Huntington Drive and Monterey Road to Broadway and First Street
for patrons transferring from the new Metro Rapid line 745. More
late night service will be added to Metro Bus line 166 (Nordoff/Lankershim
Blvd.), to serve the extended late night hours of the Metro Red Line. Also
line 243 (Winnetka Ave.), will receive added late night service for
students attending night classes at Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland
Hills. Metro Bus Line 92 (Glenoaks/Brand/Glendale Blvd.), will now provide
direct access to the Burbank Metrolink station. Additional
morning, afternoon and/or midday service will be added to 17 Metro Bus
lines. They include lines: 28/328 (West Olympic Blvd.), between Century
City and downtown Los Angeles, 51 (Avalon Blvd.), 66 (East Olympic
Blvd./W. 8th St.), 152 (Roscoe Blvd.), 170 (Hellman Ave.),180
(Hollywood/Colorado Blvd.), 233/561 (Van Nuys Blvd.), 94/394 (San Fernando
Road) to serve Olive View Medical Center, 251 (Soto/Daly/Seville St.), 260
(Atlantic Blvd.), 460 (LA/Disneyland Express), 550 (San Pedro/West
Hollywood Express), and Metro Rapid lines 720 (Wilshire Metro Rapid) and
750 (Ventura Metro Rapid). On
Metro Rapid line 750 (Ventura Metro Rapid), MTA will institute a new
station stop along Ventura Boulevard at De Soto Avenue. The station is
needed to provide patrons with better access to Kaiser Permanente
Hospital. Two
Metro Bus lines will have their routes extended. Line 76 (Valley Blvd.)
will have westbound service rerouted to connect with the future Chinatown
Metro Gold Line Station and line 439 (LAX/Redondo Beach Express) will be
rerouted to serve the Howard Hughes Center in Westchester. Service
on line 426 (San Fernando/Wilshire Blvd. Express) is being reduced between
North Hollywood and Wilshire/Western due to low ridership on this portion
of the line. In addition, due to the establishment of two new Metro Rapid
Bus lines, the limited bus lines that normally operate along those
corridors will be cancelled. They include line 345 (Broadway Limited), and
line 354 (Vermont Ave. Limited). Other
