MTA Adds Extra
Weekend Train Cars to Metro Rail, MTA has added extra
train cars to both the Metro Blue Line and the Metro Red Line subway
system on weekends to increase capacity on Metro Rail trains. The Metro Blue Line,
which operates between Los Angeles and Long Beach, now will have all
weekend trains that operate between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. equipped with
three car trains instead of a mix of two and three car trains that
normally operate between that time period. Weekend service on the
Metro Red Line subway now has two extra train cars added to those trains
operating from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles to Wilshire and
Western between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. The addition of extra
train cars to both the Metro Blue Line and the Metro Red Line began on
Nov. 30. In addition to increasing capacity, the additional cars will
allow for easier boarding and alighting at busier stations. For complete route and
schedule information patrons can call MTA-110 |
