MTA’s Metro
Gateway Cities Service Sector MTA’s Metro Gateway
Cities Service Sector, which includes cities in Southeast Los Angeles
County, will hold a series of community meetings beginning Monday, Dec. 2,
seeking public comment on how MTA Metro Bus service can be improved in
their community. “We encourage the
public to attend one of three community meetings and give us their
opinions about bus service in the Southeast area of Los Angeles County,”
said Rich Rogers, MTA’s general manager of the Gateway Cities Service
Sector. “We are specifically looking for public comment and suggestions
on how we can improve service to the community.” MTA began
decentralizing its bus operations last summer by implementing five
community-based transit service sectors designed to improve bus service.
The sector concept was created to solicit community input to help improve
the reliability, customer satisfaction and trip planning opportunities for
patrons who rely on MTA services. Effective Nov. 26, the
permanent offices for the Gateway Cities Service Sector will be located in
Downey at 7878 Telegraph Road. They can be reached by calling
213-922-4395. MTA’s community-based
transit bus service sectors include the San Gabriel Valley, the San
Fernando Valley, Gateway Cities of Southeast Los Angeles County, South Bay
and the Westside/Central Los Angeles area. Topics to be discussed
at the community meetings will include adding more frequent bus service,
changing or adding a bus stop as demand warrants, and other subjects of
interest to bus patrons. Three community
meeting have been scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the first week
of December at the following locations:
