MTA’s
Metro San Gabriel Valley Service Sector to Hold Representatives
from MTA’s Metro San Gabriel Valley Service Sector will hold a series of
community meetings beginning Oct. 8 seeking public input on how bus
service can be improved in their community. In addition, public input is needed in
developing improved bus connections to serve the Los Angeles to Pasadena
Metro Gold Line when the line opens in mid-2003. “The public is being encouraged to
attend one of three community meetings and provide MTA staff with their
comments on how bus service should be improved to better fit their
needs,” said Jack Gabig, general manager of the Metro San Gabriel Valley
Service Sector. “We also need their input as my staff develops
connections for bus service to and from the Metro Gold Line next year.” MTA decentralized its bus operations last
summer by implementing five community-based transit service sectors
designed to improve bus service, reliability, customer satisfaction and
enhanced travel opportunities for those patrons who rely on MTA services. MTA’s community-based transit service
sectors include the San Gabriel Valley, the San Fernando Valley, South
Bay, Gateway Cities of Southeast Los Angeles County and the
Westside/Central Los Angeles area. Service improvements that will be
discussed at the meetings could include adding more frequent bus service
or simply changing or adding a bus stop as demand warrants. As an example, Metro San Gabriel Valley
Service Sector staff, Three community
meetings in the San Gabriel Valley area are planned. The meetings will
take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:
