FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Metro Can Take You for a Free Ride in the Park

Love the beach but not the traffic? If so you’ll enjoy a special shuttle that connects the San Fernando Valley with Malibu with stops in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in between.

Metro will take you there -- to the ParkLINK shuttle through the mountains -- on weekends and holidays, via a special stop of Metro Local bus 161. No paid parking at the beach. No over-priced gasoline to consider. Metro and the National Park Service will transport you effortlessly for the price of a Metro day pass or ticket.

Four times per day on weekends and holidays, the Orange Line will be met by a special Metro Bus 161 at Warner Center in Woodland Hills. Metro Line 161 will then make an extra stop at Las Virgenes and Agoura roads to connect with the National Park Service free ParkLINK shuttle.

Two morning trips on Line 161 meet ParkLINK. They leave Warner Center at 9:53 a.m. and 10:53 a.m. Two trips in the afternoon leave the Las Virgenes/Agoura roads stop at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Travel time between the Metro Orange Line at Warner Center and the ParkLINK stop at Las Virgenes/Agoura roads is about 26 minutes.

Within the National Recreation Area the ParkLINK Shuttle makes 13 stops at various scenic spots, including Backbone Trail and Corral Canyon for hiking, Paramount Ranch picnic area and Zuma , Malibu Lagoon and Dan Blocker beaches. The shuttles run every 30 to 60 minutes.
