Skirball Bridge Traffic Reconfiguration Planned for Sept. 21-23

On Tuesday, September 21, 2010, the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor will reconfigure the traffic along the Skirball Bridge. The purpose of this work is to modify the traffic along the Skirball Bridge in order to maintain access and traffic during the reconstruction of the bridge.

Traffic lanes will get re-striped to maintain a total of three lanes along the bridge during the upcoming reconstruction, two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound. K-rail (concrete barriers) will get placed on the center of the bridge to separate the traffic from the work zone. In addition, the southbound Skirball off-ramp will get reduced to one lane. The night time work activity to reconfigure the traffic is anticipated to take place over two nights. During the course of this work, the Skirball Bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.. The southbound Skirball on-and-off ramps will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m..

What: The reconfiguration of traffic along the Skirball Bridge in order to maintain access and traffic during reconstruction of the bridge. A total of three lanes will remain open on the bridge during reconstruction, two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound.

When: Night time work is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 for approximately two days between the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. weather permitting.

Where: Skirball Center Drive from Sepulveda Blvd. to the northbound Skirball off-ramp.

What to Expect:

• Skirball Center Dr. from Sepulveda Blvd. to the northbound Skirball off-ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• After the completion of this work activity, there will be a total of three lanes along the bridge for the upcoming reconstruction, two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound. This configuration will remain in place throughout the demotition and reconstruction of the north half of the Skirball Bridge, approximately seven months.
• The southbound Skirball on-and off ramps will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• Emergency vehicle access will be maintained
