The first community meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cal Poly University's Bronco Student Center - Building 35-Orion Room AB, 3801 W. Temple Boulevard in Pomona. The second community meeting will take place on Saturday, January 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Plaza De La Raza, 3540 North Mission Road in Los Angeles. The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Metro San Gabriel Valley sector office located at 3369 Santa Anita Ave. in El Monte beginning at 6 p.m.
Proposed Metro Bus service changes include the creation of three new lines that include the establishment of a new Metro Rapid Bus Line along the Soto Street corridor, a new weekday peak-hour limited stop service on Line 76 (Los Angeles/El Monte via Valley Blvd.) and the start of a new shuttle service (Line S-684) between the Brea Mall and the City of Pomona.
Other changes include the cancellation of Line 350 (Soto Street Limited) which will be replaced with the new Metro Rapid Line, discontinue bus service on Line 484 (Los Angeles/El Monte/La Puente/Pomona) east of Valley Boulevard and Temple Avenue in the vicinity of Cal Poly Pomona which will be replaced by the new shuttle route S-684, and end Line 490 (Los Angeles/El Monte/Baldwin Park/West Covina/Walnut/Pomona/Brea Mall) at Valley Boulevard and Temple Avenue near Cal Poly Pomona.
The service changes, if approved, will be implemented on June 27, 2004 or later. Interested members of the public are encouraged to attend the upcoming hearing and provide testimony. Those unable to attend may submit written testimony through Feb. 10, 2004.
