Travelers heading from Los Angeles Union Station downtown to Burbank Bob Hope Airport between July 15 and July 17-during the Mulholland Bridge demolition and I-405 closure in the Sepulveda Pass-can receive a 50 percent discount from Amtrak.
Amtrak describes the offer as an effort to support travelers during the weekend closure of the I-405.
Amtrak California will offer coach passengers a 50 percent discount on adult fares for all Pacific Surfliner trains traveling between Union Station downtown and Burbank Bob Hope Airport the July 15 weekend. With the weekend discount, the fare will be $3 each way, about the cost of a premium cup of coffee.
Up to two children (ages 2-15) may accompany each adult for a $1.50 fare.

Metrolink is adding to its regularly scheduled weekend service with seven roundtrips on the Ventura County Line and nine additional trips on the Antelope Valley Line. Metrolink will also begin offering a $10 Weekend Pass beginning July 1, good for unlimited rides on Metrolink trains from Friday night at 7 p.m. through Sunday night at 11:59 p.m. For more information, go to metrolinktrains.com.
Service changes are being made to the Summer Beach Bus operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. For information, go to http://ladpw.org/PDD/beach_bus/index.cfm.
In addition to providing free rides on the Metro Orange, Red and Purple Lines, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is offering free fare on 26 Metro Bus lines during the weekend of July 16-17 when the I-405 will be closed between the I-10 and U.S. 101 for Mulholland Bridge demolition work. The free fare includes Line 761, which travels through the Sepulveda Pass.
Regular fares will apply for all other bus and rail lines during the closure weekend.
Metro has announced that is also adding 61 buses and 32 rail cars to enhance service on the bus and rail lines serving the area that will be impacted by the I-405 closure.
Metro selected bus lines for free fares that operate on major Westside and San Fernando Valley streets in areas most affected by the closure. Free rides on the selected bus lines are intended to help mitigate congestion during the closure weekend. Free fares are being offered on the following Metro bus lines:
Metro will closely monitor traffic congestion on all routes in the I-405 construction area and will make needed adjustments to bus service based on the current traffic conditions. Transit patrons should, however, anticipate longer trip times to reach their destinations and plan accordingly.
