The Metro Gold Line, with connections to the Metro Rail system that crisscrosses L.A. County, stops in the heart of Chinatown at North Spring and College Streets.
A traditional lion dance begins the pre-race activities at 7:40 a.m. In Chinese folklore, the lion dance and drums chase away "evil" spirits and bring good luck to those that participate.
Lighting of 100,000 firecrackers will signal the countdown to the start of the race.
MTA recommends passengers purchase round-trip tickets to avoid lines at the ticket vending machines. The cost of a regular round trip ticket on the Metro Gold Line is $2.50. MTA passes will be honored. Proof of payment is required to ride the Metro Rail system. Passengers traveling between multiple Metro Rail lines can purchase a Metro Day Pass for $3.
The Firecracker run will temporarily impact Metro Bus lines 28, 45, 83 and 84 in the Chinatown area Sunday, February 8 from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m.
