Metro Bus Tokens will no Longer be Accepted on Foothill Transit Buses Effective May 1

Friday April 16, 2004

Metro bus tokens are being phased out on Foothill Transit buses and will no longer be accepted as fare payment effective Saturday, May 1.

Foothill Transit will continue to honor Metro's monthly EZ transit pass, which sells for $58 ($29 for seniors/disabled) and is good for travel on Metro Buses, Foothill Transit as well as other municipal transit providers in the region. They include: Antelope Valley Transit, City of Commerce, Culver City, Gardena Bus Lines, Glendale Beeline, LADOT, Long Beach Transit, Montebello Bus Lines, Norwalk Transit, Pasadena ARTS, Santa Clarita Transit and Santa Monica Big Blue Bus.

Metro Tokens sell for $1.10, offering Metro riders a 15-cent discount off the regular case fare of $1.25 and are good for one-way travel on Metro buses and trains as well as various municipal operators. Metro tokens will be phased out entirely over the next year as Metro begins implementation of a new Universal Fare System (USF) in 2005.
