Go Metro to Free Women’s Conference at Citrus College on April 1

Experts in the fields of health, law, business and parenting will speak April 1 at the seventh annual Expanding Horizons Women’s Conference at Citrus College in Glendora. Sponsored by State Senator Bob Margett and his wife Beverly, the conference will delve into many of the critical issues facing women today. It is open to women of all ages and incomes and it is free. Lunch will be included and some of the workshop presentations will be offered in Spanish, as well as English. The conference will run from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and it is easy to get to, via Metro.  

“This is a one-day course covering such diverse issues as enhancing your career and guidance in raising children,” said Sen. Margett. “And it’s a wonderful opportunity for women to meet experts who can help them achieve their full potential and the potential of their families. Connections made during the conference could benefit the attendees for the rest of their lives.”

Among the noted speakers will be Sen. Margett, who will explain pending legislation of significance to women and the many services the state can offer women. Rita Topalian, attorney and past president of the Whittier Bar Association, will deliver the keynote address. “I am privileged to be asked to be the keynote speaker, as it was workshops like this and other inspirational persons who helped shape my life,” Topalian said.

Seminar topics will include Parenting and Separation/Divorce; Domestic Violence and the Legal System; Starting Your Own Business; Heat Disease and Diabetes -- Who’s At Risk?; Blueprint for Financial Success; Childhood Obesity, What Can Parents Do to Avoid It? and Job Hunt Fears and How to Tame Them.

Citrus College is at 1,000 N. Foothill Blvd., Glendora, between Barranca and Citrus avenues.
