Go Metro, Go Green to Earth Day Events 2009

Celebrate Earth Day by leaving your car behind and go Metro to many of the free Earth Day events beginning Wednesday, April 22, and throughout the weekend of April 25-26.  One of the events will feature musical and dance performances, face paintings, and a farmer’s market.

Free tote bags, discounts on American Apparel t-shirts and other free giveaways will be offered at various events when you show your valid Metro pass, Metro Rail ticket or Destination Discounts card.

Los Angeles County’s National Conversation on Climate Action event will be on Wednesday, April 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Metro Headquarters, One Gateway Plaza at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.  Show valid Metro pass, Metro rail ticket or Destination Discount card at the Public Works Environmental Programs information booth and receive a free reusable tote bag.

The Second Annual Wilshire Center Earth Day/Car Free Day will be on Wednesday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn at Wilshire Center, 3700 Wilshire Blvd.  The event will feature musical and dance performances, face painting and a farmer’s market.  For more information visit www.wilshirecenter.com/earthday.

The East Hollywood Earth Day Festival will be on the weekend of April 25-26 on Santa Monica Boulevard between Vermont and Virgil avenues.  Show valid Metro pass, Metro Rail ticket or Destination Discounts card and get an American Apparel t-shirt silk screen live for $1 by Recycled Movie.

Pasadena’s Greening the Earth Day and Armory Family Free Festival at Memorial Park and Armory Center for the Arts, 145 North Raymond St. (next to Memorial Park Gold Line station) will be on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Show valid Metro pass, Metro Rail ticket or Destination Discounts card at the transportation booth and receive an Earth Day giveaway.
