Metro receives Outstanding Project of the Year Award for Light Rail Eastside Extension Construction Project

The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension Project was presented with the 2010 Outstanding Project of the Year Award by the Underground Construction Association of Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (UCASME) at the North American Tunneling Conference held June 20 in Portland, Oregon.

Full Freeway Closure for Re-Striping for I-405 Northbound Carpool Lane Project in the Vicinity of the Sunset Bridge Planned for the Night of June 27

Night Work Planned For I-405 Northbound Carpool Lane Project At Skirball Center Drive And Sepulveda Blvd From Wilshire Blvd To Montana Ave Beginning June 23

As part of the pre-construction activities for I-405 northbound Carpool Lane Project, the contractor will conduct a site investigation of the area near the Skirball Center Drive on and off –ramps. In addition, light pole supports and construction materials will get moved and placed at the proposed construction yard that is located between Sepulveda Blvd. and the southbound Skirball Center Drive ramps.

L.A. Mayor, Metro Officials Encourage Ride Sharing On 'Dump The Pump' Day - Commuters can save $10,000 a year in recession

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Metro officials today marked national Dump the Pump day with a twist. They encouraged motorists to park their cars and trucks and take public transit or join a carpool or vanpool. But they also used the occasion to share how Los Angeles is being transformed from the car capital of the world to the transit capital.

New Metro Fares Take Effect July 1

Metro fares for regular riders will change effective July 1. However, there will be no change in discounted fares for seniors, students, disabled and Medicare recipients. Fares on the Metro Silver Line, the bus service connecting the San Gabriel Valley and South Bay, with stops in downtown Los Angeles, also will remain the same.

Metro To Hold Public Hearings For Wilshire Bus Rapid Transit Project June 21 Thru 30

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) invites the public to attend public hearings on the proposed Wilshire Bus Rapid Transit project June 21 through 30, Metro, the City of Los Angeles and the County of Los Angeles have just released a Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Assessment (EIR/EA) analyzing the proposed project and alternatives. If adopted, there would be a dedicated bus lane operating on weekdays, during the peak periods along most of Wilshire Boulevard in the City of Los Angeles.

Go Metro To L.A. Pride Festival And Parade June 12-13

More than 400,000 visitors are expected in West Hollywood this weekend for the L.A. Pride Festival and Parade. And on Sunday, Santa Monica Boulevard from Crescent Heights Avenue to Robertson Boulevard will be closed for the parade. That adds up to too much traffic and too little room. So avoid the aggravation and Go Metro to the West Hollywood festivities June 12 and 13. You'll be glad you did.

I-405 Sepulveda Pass Widening Project Contractor to Place Concrete Barriers on Southbound I-405 June 3-10

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Widening Project contractor will place concrete barriers (k-rail) in selected areas on the right hand shoulder of the southbound I-405 freeway from the Ventura Freeway (US- 101) to the Santa Monica Freeway (1-10) June 3 through 10. This work will require some ramp and lane closures; however, the freeway will remain open to thru traffic.
