The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will be conducting four public upcoming meetings to update the community on the agency’s Eastside Transit Corridor Study Phase 2. The study, which evaluates ways to improve mobility in the corridor by connecting the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension (under construction) to cities further east of Los Angeles, will be held at the following locations:
Metro’s five community-based transit service sector governance councils will hold their regular monthly public meetings in April to discuss various transportation issues in their service sectors.
Metro will conduct a public hearing on Santa Catalina Island on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, to receive ideas and suggestions for meeting public transportation needs on Santa Catalina Island. The hearing will be held in Avalon at the City Hall, 410 Avalon Canyon Road, held in conjunction with their council meeting starting at 7:00 p.m.
Go Metro to the first International Curry Festival in California on Sunday, April 13, in Thai Town, East Hollywood on Hollywood Boulevard from Western Avenue to Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles. Admission is free to the public.
Metro will conduct public hearings in Santa Clarita, Lancaster and Palmdale to receive ideas and suggestions from the public for meeting public transportation needs in the North County, per requisite of the Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 8 funds.
Go Metro to the seventh annual Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6 in the Little Tokyo district at 244 S. San Pedro Street in the Japanese American Culture & Community Center Plaza on San Pedro Street between First and Third Streets in downtown Los Angeles. Admission is free to the public.

In an unprecedented move, Metro Board Chair Pam O’Connor will take to the air waves Thursday night, March 27, to promote live public discussion of the mobility future for Los Angeles County and how to pay for traffic relief.
On Friday, March 28, Metro construction workers will begin removing concrete decks and do street renovation work on First Street in Boyle Heights at the West Portal and the Mariachi Plaza station of the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension. The full street closure is needed to build the roof of the underground station, reconstruct streets surfaces and finalize civil improvements such as curbs and gutters and sidewalk reconstruction.
With the release of its draft Long Range Transportation Plan for public review last week, Metro today launched a major campaign to focus public attention on how individuals can work with Metro to achieve a free-flowing traffic future for Los Angeles County.
