During Rideshare Week (Oct. 3-7) Metro is challenging commuters and others to share a ride and save money on gas while easing traffic and air pollution. Just carpooling or taking public transit once a week will save the average commuter 125 gallons of gas a year.

Metro's community-based transit service sector governance councils will hold their regular monthly public meetings in October to discuss various transportation issues in their sectors as well as proposed Metro Bus service changes.

Metro gives public tips for staying safe when interacting with test buses
Large-scale photo based artworks by four exciting contemporary artists are now featured at three Metro Rail stations. Stephen Galloway, Soo Kim, and Walter Martin with Paloma Muñoz were selected from 189 artists from across the country. Seven photos, each 3 ft. x 4 ft. are sequentially arranged on internally illuminated boxes, and present a glowing, luminous and colorful display that engages Metro riders on their daily commute.
Volunteers from the Metro San Gabriel Valley Service Sector, the El Monte Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's and Fire departments will join, this weekend, Sept. 10 and 11, in a fundraising effort for survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
