Richard Hunt
San Fernando Valley Sector General Manager
Richard Hunt is Metro’s San Fernando Valley General Manager overseeing all bus Operations in the San Fernando Valley. He is also responsible for Metro’s Vehicle Technology and Systems development and implementation. With over 26 years experience in Public Transit Operations, Richard has been involved at the leading edge of advanced technology vehicle development and implementation.
On the National level, Richard is the Vice Chairman of American Public Transit Association’s (APTA) Clean Propulsion & Support Technology Committee. He also served on the Alternative Fuels Committee and the Bus Maintenance committee. Richard has a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal State Los Angeles, and an Engineering Management Certificate from Cal Tech Industrial Relations Center.
Michael Brewer
San Fernando Valley Sector Service Development Manager
Mr. Brewer graduated from Cal State University Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. He began his career at METRO working as a Telephone Information clerk and subsequently working as an Information supervisor providing METRO passengers with quality bus route and schedule itineraries. Later, Mr. Brewer held the position of Transportation Planner and contributed to various bus route restructuring programs and bus/rail interface studies. He also administered contracts and billing for several METRO operated services including Hollywood Bowl Park/Ride, downtown L.A. Minibus, Westwood Minibus, Subscription Bus and Bus Express Employee Program services (BEEP).
Currently, Mr. Brewer directs the bus scheduling and planning efforts for METRO San Fernando Valley Sector and has helped develop and successfully implement programs for Metro Red Line and Orange Line start-ups and various San Fernando Valley service improvement programs. Our goal is to enhance mobility in the region and deliver quality routes and schedules to our patrons in Metro San Fernando Valley.
Salvador Llamas
Division Maintenance Manager
Mr. Llamas is Metro's San Fernando Valley - Division 15 Maintenance Manager. He is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Division 15 Maintenance department, which includes the Facilities Maintenance group that supports the San Fernando Valley Service Sector, Division 15, and Division 8. He has over 15 years of experience in the vehicle fleet maintenance field, with 13 years at the management level. Mr. Llamas started working at Metro as an Equipment Maintenance Supervisor in 1999. He worked at Divisions 18, 7, 9 and 3 in this capacity. While at Division 3, he was appointed as Acting Assistant Manager in Nov 2006. In April 2007, he moved back to Division 9 where he was promoted to Assistant Maintenance Manager.
Before joining Metro, Mr. Llamas served 10 years in the United States Marine Corps where he started as a Mechanic and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Llamas completed Metro's Emerging Leader's Program (ELP) in April 2005, he is currently attending University of Phoenix in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
Gary S. Spivack
Division 15 Transportation Manager
Mr. Spivack has over 30 years of progressively responsible experience in the field of public transportation. He has managed two operating divisions totaling 400-500 staff, been responsible for major capital projects (including the $300 million Union Station Gateway project which was brought in on-time and under budget), managed major environmental studies including the Congressionally Ordered Re-Engineering Study which ultimately led to the completion of the 17-mile Metro Red Line in two Los Angeles corridors, and is the father of the joint transit / private sector development program at METRO. Mr. Spivack joined the former Southern California Rapid Transit District (SCRTD) as its Director of Planning in 1982. After the merger, Mr. Spivack held a variety of positions in Administration and Operations. Most recently he was the Deputy Executive Officer for Corporate Safety and led a major safety improvement program at METRO, which reduced costs for on the job injuries agency-wide. He currently manages the Sun Valley Bus Division in the San Fernando Valley with a staff of approximately 500 individuals.
Kathy Powell Drayton
San Fernando Valley Sector Administration and Financial Services Manager
Ms. Drayton joined METRO in July 1999 in the Management Audit Services Department. She was responsible for auditing or supervising audits of contractors on the METRO Red Line Hollywood Extension and also the closeout audit of the Union Station Gateway complex. One of her major accomplishments was identifying audit findings that resulted in savings of $1.5 million for the agency. Ms. Drayton officially joined the Operations group with the rollout of METRO San Fernando Valley in July 2002. Prior to that she worked on a special project in the DCEO office for six months. Currently, Ms. Drayton supervises the financial, administrative, and safety functions in the Sector. She is responsible for developing and monitoring the Sector budget in excess of $100 million.
Ms. Drayton earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Colorado in Denver. She is a licensed certified public accountant in the states of Colorado and California.
Patrick Orr
Division 8 Maintenance Manager
Mr. Orr has been in public transportation since 1972. He started as a mechanic in the West Hollywood division. Promoted to Equipment Maintenance Supervisor in 1977, to Senior Equipment Maintenance Supervisor in 1979 and to Division Maintenance Manager in 1981. His entire career has been in bus maintenance, with the exception of three years spent in the Non Revenue / Farebox Repair Department. He retired in May of 2002 and was rehired in April of 2003.
He has since been promoted to Division Maintenance Manager again and is currently working at the West San Fernando Valley Division. Current projects include the Orange Line Construction and implementation project. He expects to retire again in 2008.
Maria Reynolds
Division 8 Transportation Manager
Ms. Reynolds began her career in public transportation with the MTA, and its predecessor agency, the Southern California Rapid Transit District, in late 1986. She has held many progressively responsible positions throughout her career. Prior to her current role as Transportation Manager, Maria served as Assistant Transportation Manager for over four years.
Maria is currently responsible for overseeing the Chatsworth Division with a budget of approximately $30 million, a work force of 346 employees and the operation of 16 lines throughout the San Fernando Valley.
Ms. Reynolds earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Master of Science in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). She also holds a Certificate in Employee-Employer Relations and Personnel Management from CSULB.
Maria is a resident of Simi Valley with her husband, Richard, and their two children.
George Trudeau
Assistant Manager of Vehicle Operations
Mr. Trudeau has over 34 years experience in public transit operations. Before relocating to the Metro San Fernando Valley Service Sector, he worked as Assistant Manager in Bus Operations Control (BOC). During his many years with Metro, Mr. Trudeau has been involved in a number of high profile projects.
Mr. Trudeau was responsible for planning and implementing the transportation needs of delegates to the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles.
He coordinated the planning and implementation of the public transportation shuttle service for President Ronald Reagan’s memorial at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. Mr. Trudeau also performed similar duties for the public transportation shuttle service for President Gerald Ford’s memorial in Palm Desert, California. Mr. Trudeau has also contributed significantly to the overwhelming success of Orange Line by developing and implementing the operational plans.
Mr. Trudeau is responsible for all day-to-day on-street operations of bus service in the San Fernando Valley Service Sector.
