Committees & Groups

Here are some of the key standing committees that provide technical assistance to Metro staff on planning matters:

Technical Advisory Committee

The establishment of a Technical Advisory Committee is required by state law dating back to the formation of the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission (LACTC), predecessor agency to Metro. Since its formal inception in 1977, TAC has undergone periodic reviews of its membership, functions and responsibilities based upon the changing needs of this agency; however, its function remains relatively unchanged. TAC meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.

Bus Operations Subcommittee

Reviews and provides technical input on all bus operations, capital and legislative issues. BOS meets the third Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m.

Streets & Freeways Subcommittee

Reviews and provides technical input on projects and issues related to seaports and airport access, goods movement, bikeways, traffic systems management, and streets and freeways operations and programming. SFS meets the third Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m.

Local Transit Systems Subcommittee

Provides technical input on issues affecting local transportation systems including fixed route circulation, commuter services, paratransit, transportation demand management and rail feeder services. LTSS meets the last Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m.

Transportation Demand Management/Air Quality Subcommittee

Provides technical input on TDM and air quality issues. Meets every other month from 10:00- 12:00 pm.
