Lights…camera…you! The “Transit Flicks” video contest is your chance to show the world what you like best about riding buses and trains in Los Angeles County.
All you have to do is create a brief video – 2 minutes maximum – that explains how transit helps you and encourages others to try it.
Maybe you’ll take us along on your stress-free commute.....give us a taste of riding to the family picnic…..or simply show us why transit makes any day better.
Entries will be judged on originality, believability, and how well they convince others to try transit. The top contenders will be posted on the web so everyone in Los Angeles County can choose the winner.
But hurry – entry deadline is September 2, 2011. So get ready for your close-up… you might win a free pass for a year!

ELIGIBILITY: The “2011 Transit Flicks Video Contest” (the “Contest”) is open to all legal residents of California, 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry. Employees, their immediate family members and employees of contractors for Big Blue Bus, Culver City Transit , Foothill Transit, Gardena Municipal Bus Lines, Long Beach Transit, LADOT (Commuter Express, DASH), LACMTA, Montebello Bus Lines, Norwalk Transit, PTSC, SCRRA, Santa Clarita Transit, Torrance Transit ( the “Sponsors”), or any other transit agency in Los Angeles County, are ineligible. This Contest is void wherever prohibited by law and is subject to all federal, state, local, and municipal laws and regulations. Contest begins June 20, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. and ends September 2, 2011 at midnight (the “Term”). For purposes of these Official Rules, all times are Pacific Time (PT).

HOW TO ENTER: Complete the official Transit Flicks Entry Form by August 28, 2011 at midnight. Follow the upload instructions you receive subsequently via e-mail and submit your video entry about why you like riding transit in LA County (maximum length 2 minutes) by September 2, 2011 at midnight. LIMIT: ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER THE CONTEST.

WINNER SELECTION: Entries will be judged by representatives of the Sponsors, who will select eight finalists based on originality, believability and how well they convince others to try transit. Decision of the judges is final. All finalists will be notified by phone on or about September 30, 2011 and will be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability and, where legal, Publicity Release. If a potential finalist does not reply to such notification within 3 days or does not execute and return the Affidavit and Release by the agreed date, that finalist will be disqualified and an alternate finalist will be selected by the judges. Finalists’ videos will be posted at metro.net/transitflicks, and the public will vote for their favorite entry. The finalist receiving the most votes on metro.net/transitflicks by October 24, 2011 at midnight will be named Grand Prize Winner. Remaining finalists will be named 1st Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up and Honorable Mentions in order according to the votes received.

PRIZES: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive an EZ transit pass good for one year valued at approximately $1008. One (1) 1st Runner-up will receive an EZ transit pass good for six months valued at approximately $504. One (1) 2nd Runner-up will receive an EZ transit pass good for three months valued at approximately $252. Five (5) Honorable Mentions will each receive an EZ transit pass good for one month valued at approximately $84. The Sponsors reserve the right to substitute any and all prizes with prizes of equal or greater value, if an advertised prize becomes unavailable. In no event will more than the stated number of prizes be awarded. The odds of winning a prize depend upon the number of eligible entries received. LIMIT OF ONE PRIZE PER PERSON/ FAMILY/ HOUSEHOLD.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: THE FOLLOWING TERMS & CONDITIONS APPLY: All entries become the sole property of LACMTA and will not be returned for any reason. Entry of a video into this contest constitutes the grant to the Sponsors of an unconditional right to use entrant’s video, name, voice, likeness, photograph, biographical and prize information and/or statements about the promotion for any publicity, advertising and promotional purposes without future compensation, except where prohibited by law. LACMTA reserves the exclusive right to interpret all conditions relating to this promotion, and LACMTA’s decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Contest. The Sponsors reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any individual that the Sponsors either find to be i) acting in violation of these Rules; ii) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner; iii) acting with the intent to threaten, annoy, abuse or harass any person or to disparage any goods or services of the Sponsors or to erode the goodwill of the Sponsors; or iv) exhibiting conduct that the Sponsors find inappropriate, immoral or otherwise objectionable.
The Sponsors assume no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries or for any computer, online or technical failures or malfunctions. Entries will be considered made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. LACMTA reserves the right to extend or terminate the Contest at any time.

RELEASE: By entering the Contest, entrants release the Sponsors and their directors, officers, employees, and agents, from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, illnesses, litigation or damages of any kind caused by the Contest, any prize, resulting from acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize, or occurring while traveling to or from or participating in any prize-related activity. By submitting an entry form, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsors.

OFFICIAL RULES REQUEST/WINNERS LIST: To request the Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope by September 2, 2011 to: “Transit Flicks” Contest Official Rules, One Gateway Plaza, MS 99-19-2, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Official Rules are also posted online at metro.net/transitflicks. Finalists’ videos will be posted online at metro.net/transitflicks on or about October 5, 2011; the finalist receiving the most votes and designated Grand Prize Winner will be announced on metro.net/transitflicks on or about October 31, 2011.
